Jennifer Bannick
Archaeologist Supervisor
“Throughout my time with Eocene, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing my knowledge and experience with archaeology field techs, helping them along with their careers,” says Jennifer Bannick, archaeologist supervisor. “I’ve had many opportunities to collaborate with other archaeologists. I’ve been involved in several large projects which will have positive results for many communities, and I’m proud of the supportive culture of inclusivity we’ve fostered in my region.”
Rewind back to her youth, Jennifer’s interest in the industry originated by seeing Indiana Jones as a child. “I am fascinated by people’s past and different cultures and a desire to learn various foreign languages.”
Starting her career at the University of Utah as an intern at the Natural History Museum of Utah (formerly the Utah Museum of Natural History), Jennifer assisted the archaeology collections area with several tasks. She also worked in artifact preparation for the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA).
Jennifer joined the Transcon Environmental team (now our environmental division) in August 2018 as a field technician, then made the transition to crew chief and field director, all before transitioning into her current role as an archaeologist supervisor. She was drawn to the company because of its good reputation and the tight-knit cultural team with known opportunities for advancement.
“Most importantly, my coworkers have always been amazing, right from the start,” Jennifer says. “The people you work with every day have a huge impact on a work environment, and I’ve been very fortunate to work with the most intelligent, professional, capable, efficient, organized and just incredible coworkers!”
When asked what excites her about her work, she says, “I really enjoy a balance between the excitement of field work and the office work/report writing. It’s wonderful to get to work outside in some of the most beautiful environments in the region, contributing to the archaeological record with our survey and site recording, and I find the research and writing aspects of my job to be equally rewarding.”
When asking her manager about Jennifer, she says, “Jennifer is incredibly driven and diligent, consistently going above and beyond for her coworkers and on her projects. Her wit and energy keep us laughing, even in stressful moments! She’s a vitally important part of keeping our team running!”
