Safety & Industrial Hygiene

Eocene Environmental Group is a multifaceted regulatory compliance service provider offering expert assistance to companies in meeting local, state and federal requirements.

Keeping track of the compliance requirements for the myriads of environmental regulations can be a daunting task for non-environmental professionals. At Eocene, we have a dedicated network of Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIH), Certified Safety Professionals (CSPs), and hazardous material professionals ready to help you with your compliance needs. Our team brings a diverse range of experience, partnering with clients from small manufacturers to Fortune 500 companies.

Industrial Hygiene Services

Building inspections are often performed when purchasing a piece of real estate, including home, school, commercial or public buildings, or when renovation or demolition activities will occur. Eocene’s inspection reports are extremely thorough and include laboratory results, sample descriptions, locations of asbestos containing materials, photo documentation and state licensure.

Our team also commonly performs these inspections when a property is donated to the local fire department for training purposes. An asbestos inspection is required before demolition or training can be executed because the building is considered public property.

Eocene specializes in the preparation of bidding documents tailored for asbestos abatement projects. Our team, led by a state licensed asbestos project designer, meticulously prepares asbestos project designs that outline essential removal techniques, requirements for notification to the state and the EPA, disposal procedures, worker training standards, bonding necessities, and all relevant federal and state regulations. We develop abatement specifications for asbestos containing materials to support renovation or demolition activities. These documents ensure that property managers, facility directors and developers comply with safety regulations during demolition or reconstruction.

At Eocene, our Certified Industrial Hygienists collaborate closely with your Environmental, Safety and Health (EHS) team to identify the right respiratory protection for your workforce. We take a proactive approach, assessing potential chemicals, gases and airborne particles that could pose risks to employee health. Our experts create a program customized to your unique work environment. Using state-of-the-art equipment, we conduct thorough testing and monitoring to identify any potential hazards. Based on our findings, we provide detailed recommendations for ongoing improvements to ensure the continued safety and health of your employees from any known hazards.

Identifying noise hazards and monitoring employee exposure is key to protecting hearing in the workplace. When noise levels exceed safe thresholds, this can lead to long-term damage without proper protective measures in place. At Eocene, our team uses advanced equipment to assess noise levels across workspaces, identifying high risk areas and providing recommendations to reduce exposure. We recommend regular assessments to track changes in your work environment and ensure ongoing protection of your employees.

We know vibrant communities start with healthy spaces, free from the dangers of lead-based paint. Our experienced environmental professionals bring diverse skills to managing properties burdened with these hazards. From risk assessments and testing to remediation specifications and training, we provide our community partners with cost-effective methods for ensuring lead-based paint is identified and safely remediated. Our lead-based paint sampling and inventory services are valuable for a diverse range of clients, including homeowners, property managers, real estate developers, schools, local governments seeking to address public health concerns, and more. Together, we can create safer living spaces in our communities.

Many municipalities are responsible for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-funded lead-based paint inspection and remediation programs. At Eocene, our team has extensive experience managing and implementing HUD’s requirements under these programs, working directly with municipalities. We offer cost effective, accurate, and timely investigation and management services for projects involving lead-based paint. Utilizing advanced fluorescence technology, we conduct quick and accurate lead-based paint inspections.

Eocene’s air quality monitoring services are designed to ensure a safe environment throughout the asbestos removal process. We conduct comprehensive air sampling in each removal area, at entrances to containment areas, and near high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) exhaust systems. Our samples are typically analyzed using the Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) method. Once asbestos removal activities are complete and upon passing a visual inspection, we collect final clearance air samples, which are assessed through both PCM and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) methods. Our team that analyzes air samples have completed NIOSH 582 certification.

Environmental Health & Safety Services

At Eocene, we bring decades of expertise in hazardous materials management and the cleanup of contaminated properties. Whether you’re dealing with a leaking underground storage tank or navigating the complexities of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Superfund site, our team is here to deliver tailored, site-specific solutions.

Before you purchase commercial or industrial property, a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) is not just recommended, but often required by lenders. At Eocene, we conduct thorough reviews of historical documentation, regulatory databases and additional research to uncover any potential environmental concerns that may have impacted the property.

Our Phase I ESA data helps identify if further testing, such as soil and groundwater sampling, is necessary as part of a Phase II ESA effort. We can also address American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) non-Scope due diligence issues such as asbestos and lead-based paint within this process.
