Brian Severin, PE

Director of Technical Services

Brian Severin joined Sustainable Environmental Consultants, now our sustainability division, in 2021. As the director of technical services, he leads a team of environmental, engineering and technical specialists to guide project strategy and development. Brian and his team collaborate across the organization to consult on projects and assist clients in improving their environmental footprint.

Brian’s career passion is to create engineering designs that achieve project goals while enhancing the client’s operation and efficiency. Brian and the team have completed wetland developments, in-field conservation practices (grassed waterways, terraces, grade stabilization structures, etc.), edge-of-field conservation practices (denitrifying bioreactors, saturated buffers), livestock waste management systems and watershed dam inspections/rehabilitations.

Prior to joining our team, Brian worked for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) as an area engineer. He provided conservation planning services, engineering technical assistance and agency leadership to the farmers and ranchers of southeast Kansas. During his tenure, Brian planned, designed and applied a diverse range of conservation engineering practices and systems.   

Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in biological and agricultural engineering and a secondary major in natural resources and environmental sciences from Kansas State University. He has been professionally licensed as an engineer in the state of Kansas since 2011 and in the state of Iowa since 2022. Brian enjoys spending time with his family as well as fishing, camping and hiking. As a native Kansan and sports enthusiast, he is often found watching and attending Kansas State, Royals and Chiefs sporting events.
