Meet Colten Troeger

Colten Troeger

Environmental Scientist

Initially starting in the industry as a reclamation technician in Wyoming, Colten Troeger began treating invasive plants, performed reclamation monitoring, and reclamation seeding for oil and gas companies. Drawn to the industry ever since a visit to Glacier National Park in high school. He had a love for the outdoors and wanted to merge that love with a career, which ultimately led him to get his bachelor’s degree in biology.

Colten joined Transcon Environmental (now our environmental division) in September 2022 as a field inspector where he worked on large construction projects. The role offered Colton the chance to blend his love of the outdoors with a desire to make a difference.

“I started as a field inspector, then moved to my current role as a field lead, for a compliance project in Wyoming,” said Colten. “I’m also the lead for a long-term reclamation monitoring project. I’ve been able to take on other responsibilities such as getting my drone license, writing reclamation monitoring reports, and reviewing construction documents.”

Colten enjoys the variety of projects and tasks, as well as the chance to problem solve an issue, and determine the potential cause, impact and solution to the issue.

“One day, I’m doing compliance inspections and flying a drone in Wyoming and the next doing rare plant surveys in Idaho,” says Colten. “That’s one aspect that excites me about the company and our future. I am excited to travel to new areas to work on different projects and expand my knowledge and experience.”

“Colten is amazing to work with!” says his manager. “His work ethics are honest, timely, accurate and complete. He’s always willing to take on new tasks with perfection, from drone photos to compliance inspections to reclamation monitoring and reporting. Colten is every team’s ‘go-to’ when individuals need training on other projects and first called to take on travel to train, take on specialized tasks, or just help out with other projects. Colten’s nature is calm, he listens to understand, and always puts forth the extra effort and time to ensure deadlines, requests, and assignments are met.”
