Matt Fischer
Regional Compliance Manager
What initially drew Matt Fischer to the industry was the ability to work outdoors and travel around the U.S. to beautiful locations and national parks, like Zion and Bryce Canyon. A zoology and animal biology major in college, he spent time as a seasonal avian technician for a professor where he conducted bird surveys along the Great Salt Lake and has been hooked on wildlife biology and bird watching ever since.
As part of his role as a regional compliance manager, Matt gets to work with a wide variety of companies, federal and state agencies, and other groups to find common ground to protect the environment. “Having to problem solve and find a common ground between several competing interests on the project is an exciting part of the job,” says Matt.
Matt joined the Transcon Environmental team, now the environmental division, in 2015 where he dove into the job as an environmental inspector and wildlife biologist. He worked his way from a field lead to project manager, before transitioning into his current role as a compliance manager where he’s charged with overseeing several large environmental compliance projects. “The projects we are working on will be used to generate and transport renewable energy around the country. The growth we are experiencing is exciting, as we work on more and more projects around the world.”
